Girl's Day

This year for 雛祭り Hina Matsuri (Girl's Day)I was able to complete two little Japanese girl Kokeshi dolls, huzzah! I actually had all the parts made for them from about a year ago but I didn't put them together until just now. I was originally going to decorate their kimono with sakura (cherry blossoms) but I ended up decorating their hair so much I thought it might be too much. So they just have fancy hair! It was the first time in a long time I used beading in my amigurumi, and I think it turned out quite nice :) These girls will be in my etsy soon... probably tomorrow! For those of you who don't know, Girl's Day is March 3rd and is celebrated in Japan, Korea, and even here in Hawai`i; on this day little girls usually get special dolls, new clothes, and sweets. Happy Girl's Day friends!

New business cards!

Recently, I found that I was on my last box of business cards, which is pretty awesome because I ordered 1000... I've given out that many! Plus, it's been about 2 years since I've had a new business card design, and when one of those groupons for Vistaprint came up I just couldn't resist! I couldn't decide on just one design so I decided to make 3. The first design (left) is a picture of one of the few bears I've kept for myself; this photo is from a shoot I did ages ago. The second design (top right) looks familiar eh? I actually designed Little Red on my blog as a business card design first! The third and final design is similar to my old business cards, but if you look carefully, you'll see that it features new amigurumi! I even took the opportunity to redesign the backs... I'm thinking of that little berrysprite as my mascot. I hope you like them... some of you who have ordered from me in the past couple of weeks may have already received one!

Blog redesign!

I've been quiet on the blog front lately (busy as usual), but I'd love to extend a heartfelt thanks for all my lovely customers who recently helped me to reach 1950 sales! You guys make me feel special. Also, I redesigned my blog again! The design interface blogger provides makes it so easy and quick now, as compared to before. I hope you like it... I tried to make it with spring in mind. I especially love Red Riding Hood... it has been one of my goals to design a range of kawaii fairy tale characters for fabric/amigurumi, but I have yet to find the time! So for now it's just Little Red.

Valentine's Day Items

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and although I got a really late start, at least I'm not too late! Candy colored bunnies and lovely bear pops are my standard offerings, but I also managed to make two cupcake boxes which are completely new! They look like regular amigurumi, but are actually small boxes which would be great for keeping treasures safe (maybe for that special someone?) or for holding your sewing odds and ends... the cake part doubles as a pin cushion (pins= sprinkles!!!) Hope you like them :)

Lazy Sunday...o.o.O.O.O.o.o...

Thanks to everyone who made my sale a very big success! It felt good to have the shop open again, I must admit! It was especially nice slipping out of my office during my lunch hour to go to the post office... Just like old times!

In addition to my sale extravaganza last week, I've been quite busy. When I was still in school I always found the holidays SUPER relaxing because there was no classes and the semester was over. Now that I'm working I realize how much grown ups actually have to do! It's definitely calming down now.


I was able to go to a fabric market and pick up this SUPER cute fabric; it's a pretty new design! I love it so much, its very Tokidoki-esque. It's also very Hawai`i; see the musubi and shave ice people? Other than that, this weekend I didn't do much in the way of fun... just family stuff, no crafting. A lazy Sunday indeed... my cat is even curled up on a puddle of sunshine snoozing away... it's been 3 hours! Hope everyone has a very happy week!
