Ouch!

Well, I'm almost finished with the first week of summer school (only 5 more to go); so far it's going slooooow. But, I've been crafting so hard I've actually injured myself! I was trying to unplug my glue gun and I accidentally burned my arm, kinda badly! That was just me being clumsy, trying to work in an exceedingly crowded and cluttered space (the coffee table). I've also been so happy that I FINALLY have time to design new amigurumi, that I've actually come up with several collections; the only problem is each collection has like 4 or 5 amigurumi in it and I really feel like I need to finish them all so that I can photograph them in a big bunch. Anyway, I've been crocheting so much, that I think I weakened my wrist or made it have a touch of athritis (at age 23!) because I was helping my mom lift my sister's new bed (her old one needed replacing because I jump on it... at age 23.) and my wrist totally buckled and went limp!!!! It has been really sore the past couple of days, even just brushing my hair. Lame. It might feel better tonight though; I have a custom order I need to attend to.

These are some truffle piggies based off of some really cute fabric I have; they even come with a little truffle. I listed it today and it already sold out to a lovely customer! But I love them so much I will most likely make more; for now this will have to do for a dosage of cute piggers.

Making zippy pouches

I've been busy making new zippered pouches for my store; I had oodles of fabric I hadn't even touched yet, and my shop is running low (some of the ones in my etsy have been on there for months!) so I decided to go on a mass zippered pouch making spree! I tried to get a good variety of colors, mixed fabric styles, and of course new fabric patterns that are so cute! These still need to be ironed and photographed, yes all of them! I will be adding them slowly to my store, but there should be lotsa cute ones in a little bit.
Yep, I've had lots of time to craft; I have a couple of custom orders, but I'm still working on new things; my favorite out of these pouches has got to be this little red pouch; I've added felt applique bunnies (one looks like a jellybean) onto vintage/recycled fabric (from my mom!). I did two other ones, but really, this one is so much fun! I love being able to have the time to work on little details that make handmade items so yummy!
The only bad thing is my little sister came home from college so I had to move all my crafty supplies into the trunk of my car! I may even take them to my office; but that may cramp my crafting style so we'll see. Guess what? Summer school starts on Tuesday! Boo! But, it is only 1 class, from 10:30-11:45 taught by a professor who could possibly serve on my thesis committee; he also said I could miss a week to go to the Big Island in June, so it's a bonus! At least I'll still have time to build up my clutch supplies and develop more cute things!

Collection preview

Inspired by those too cute unazukin (of which I have yet to obtain). This is just to give you a little taste of what I have planned; little matryoshka amigurumi. As you can see, it still needs some tweaking. This little one is a prototype; I used felt for all the details and I may use rickrack in the future. I plan to make one in red, yellow, green and blue (and probably blue and pink, but I don't have the rickrack!). Also, I'll have to work on getting the face just right because you can kinda see the thread for her smile... but I think they're going to turn out really cute!

I was also scoping out blythe dolls, not really for myself but so that I can make amigurumi mini toys and hats and have a model. Whooo, they are expensive! I'll have to think more on it... I've had so many requests for bythe/ pullip and lati amigurumi it may be worth it!

SALE AT MY HOUSE!

Dang it, I have to push back my custom order date. Instead of May 16, the date will be May 19; I didn't finish all my papers, and I anticipate having to use the alloted time to complete grades for my kids (May 20). WHEN WILL IT END? Hopefully by the 19th!

To make up for it (and also to clear out my shop a little for new things) I am going to offer a sale for the first time ever! New customers will get 10% off all items and repeat customers will get 15% off everything (yay everything)! Hurry on over; the sale lasts from May 12-19!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Seriously, you don't have to be a mom to show the same caring and compassion that moms do! But just the same, we love our moms and today is the day to show how much moms mean to us >__<

I made this last night (1 am!), after a full day of trying to write a 20 page paper in my office, for my mommy. It's funny, I just got a crochet hook with a light in it so I did it in the dark so I wouldn't wake anyone in our tiny apartment. I hadn't had the chance to go shopping for her present, but I know she loves cardinals (she calls them her "red darlings") so I made her this litte cutie and included a blue egg; I don't think they lay blue eggs but it looks cute with the red! She LOVED it!
